Help us see our soldier graduate
This campaign has completed successfully!
Our son Mitchel has just enlisted into the Army National Guard. To show how proud we are of him we want to be there for him when he graduates from Basic Training. Unfortunately, to see him graduate would require a round-trip of over 3,000 miles and will not be cheap.

Travelling costs

We have only 2 options if we are going to see our son graduate: either we fly or we drive.
If we get enough money we will purchase everyone's passport and fly to Fort Sills, Oklahoma. If not then we will be looking at renting a car and taking a 5 day round trip on the road (with 2 very grumpy kids). This option will only cost around $1,500 but will be far more grueling.
Your contributions mean so much to us.

For starters, we have 2 children who will have to accompany us. And, living in Pennsylvania, we will be required to purchase passports at $160 each per person. We are also looking at flight cost as well as food and board, which quickly add up.
If we choose to fly we are looking at about $3,000. But,if we drive instead it'll cost about half of that (but will be a 5-day road trip). And even though we would prefer to fly there, we will drive if we don't gain enough funds to fly.
Please help us to be there for our son as he begins a new carreer in the military protecting our great nation. God bless.

Son departs for bootcamp
Today our son Mitchel departed for Fort Sills, Oklahoms to join the National Guard. It was a tear-filled day as we said our good-byes and watched as he walked into his new life. So proud, and yet so sad.
Just found out the cost!!!
Eek... we just found out that we need to get pasports for each of us. And worse, each passport is $160 each and takes at least 6 weeks to get it. And to top this our trip is a round trip at around 3,000 miles which will be VERY expensive. How in the world do other families afford this!!!
