Creating a campaign can be intimidating regardless of what platform you choose to use. That is why My Window of Opportunity has re-engineered how campaigns are created to ease the burden of publishing a campaign. The following is a quick overview on how you can utilize My Window of Opportunity to become YOUR window of opportunity.
Creating a Campaign
To begin, you will first need to log in or create an account with MWoO. Once logged in, simply click the “Create” link located at the top of the page to navigate to the “Create a Campaign” page. Here you will enter your campaign’s name (which must be unique to all other campaign names) and select a team that you want your campaign to exist under.
*Note: If you logged in via a social media, you will also be required to enter an alternative email address. This is because many social media platforms will not provide a contact email so that we can reach out to you to inform you on status changes to your campaign.
Teams are a new concept unique to My Window of Opportunity. An account administrator can have multiple teams each containing multiple campaigns. Team administrators also can assign roles to individuals granting them permission to either be team administrators, campaign managers or an individual campaign member, granting and managing who has access to your campaigns and in what role they play.
The roles are:
- Campaign members who can update and edit campaigns they are assigned to.
- Campaign managers who also can add (or remove) members within the campaign.
- Team administrators who can add (or remove) members, campaign managers, and team administrators. Administrators can also create new teams and campaigns as needed.
Editing a Campaign
When first creating a campaign, you will be provided the option to use a step-by-step wizard which will guide you through each step in creating a campaign. These steps will reflect how the campaign editor as a whole will operate. If you do not have all the needed information for the step you are on then simply skip it. It will be provided for you on the edit page as well and your campaign will not be published until all required portions of the campaign edit section is completed.
Under the image upload tab you will be provided the option to upload your images. All images MUST be uploaded before it can be used in the campaign.
Once uploaded, you will also have the option to edit an image’s crop sizes to match parts of your campaign that are pre-designed to be a certain width and height. For instance, an image being used to display a reward is a different size than an image used for the featured image banner of your campaign.
When an image is being used for any of the pre-defined image placeholders for the campaign, you can simply click on the image’s title button to open the image’s crop manager. Here you will be provided a set of different crop sizes that you can select and adjust as needed throughout your campaign. This will allow you to use the same single image in multiple places in its full or cropped sizes throughout your campaign.
The Content Section
The content section consists of the the entire story of your campaign. Along with the campaign’s full description you will also be able to select the campaign’s top banner image, enter any social medias associated with your campaign, a brief summary and even custom styling for your full campaign story.
Within the category tab you can select all categories that match your campaign. Please do your best to be honest, as any campaigns that appear to be disingenuous will be reviewed and risk being shut down. Although we do not wish to do so, My Window of Opportunity maintains the right to discontinue any campaign and team that goes against our Rules & Guidelines.
Charities run a little different than normal campaigns. For starters, charities can have only 1 phase. MWoO will collect no fees for charities, but any credit card fees will still apply. Also, any funds donated to a charity will be transferred after 7 days regardless if the campaign’s goal was met or not. This is our way not only to give back for all the help we received in our own individual struggles as we built this site, but also to “Pay it Forward” to encourage others to be generous and to remember that we are all brothers and sisters in this world on the same journey, for better or for worse.
Remember that categories cannot be altered after you have published your site. So ensure you selected all the proper categories before you publish.
Need a category that is not listed? Let us know and we will see about adding it to the site if appropriate.
Phases are a new innovation designed by My Window of Opportunity. They allow a campaign manager to break up the total goal of the campaign into smaller, more manageable portions that don’t look so large to your donor base. They also allow you to begin work on your idea while collecting donations for the next phase of the development process.
You can add from 1 to 3 phases, each with their own goals and descriptions. Note that once published you will not be able to edit these phases any further, so ensure that they are set correctly before publishing.
To help you in achieving your goals, My Window of Opportunity provides the 1st phase COMPLETELY FREE, upto ⅓ of the entire campaign’s goal. *This does not include charities, which are 100% free of any MWoO fees, nor does this pertain to any credit card fees connected to the payment gateway utilized for submitting payments.
The Discovery Phase
Within the Phase tab will also be found the ‘Discovery Phase’ is initiated by the campaign manager. This section will provide a summary average of all the submitted reviews along with any comments and amounts that possible donors may be interested in donating.
As a campaign holder, it will be your responsibility to keep your donor base informed as to the progress you are making (or not making) with your initiative. That is where the timeline comes in. Here you can add new timeline entries as often as needed.
The reward tab allows you to manage all of the rewards offered on your campaign along with the number of remaining items you have in stock. You will be able to select the reward’s proper image along with its description, possible delivery date, the contribution amount needed to receive this reward, and much more.
Under the Team Members tab you can invite and remove members who can access and update your campaign. You will be able to select if the individual is a campaign manager or member. *Team Administrators can only be added within the Edit Team page.
The pledge tab consists of all pledges divided into each phase. The pledge consists of the pledge amount, the date it was submitted, the donor name and it’s status:
If a reward was selected and the payment is fulfilled then a link will also be provided to view the donor’s shipping information. Here you will be able to record any notes, the tracking number if applicable, and email the pledger.
Previewing Your Campaign
Another amazing invitation provided by My Window of Opportunity is the ability to preview your campaign in different device resolutions. Simply click the “Preview” to test how your campaign looks on a desktop, laptop, tablet, and even mobile devices.
Launching Your Campaign
When all is completed you will be given the option of publish your campaign. Ensure that all pertinent information is set up because, once published, everyone will be able to see your campaign. Also you will not be able to update your campaign’s categories nor the phases, so make sure they are correct first!
When publishing, you will be taken to Stripe.com, MWoO’s payment gateway, to enter your credit or bank information. This is where all donations will be transferred to. Once complete, you will be returned to your campaign and be provided the option to launch Phase 1.
Upon the completion of each phase, if the phase’s goal was met, then all funds will be transferred to the account provided in Stripe.com (minus any fees that may apply). If a campaign does not meet its goals then all donations will be returned to the original donor and you will have to try again, so ensure you are not asking for more than you need in a particular phase.
